Trinka vs Writesonic: an academic proofreader or a marketing article writer?
The price gap settles most of this on its own. On annual billing, a year of Trinka Premium costs $48. A year of Writesonic Starter, at $79 a month billed annually, comes to $948. One is priced for a student; the other is priced for a business.
The products match their prices. Trinka checks the grammar, style and references of academic text you wrote. Writesonic writes long marketing articles built to rank in search, and its homepage and article writer page don't mention essays or students. For coursework, use Trinka.

Two very different purchases
Trinka is an academic proofreader. It covers grammar, punctuation and academic style, adds APA, AMA, ACS, AGU and IEEE style-guide corrections on paid plans, and runs in Word, the browser, a Windows app and on LaTeX files.
Writesonic now calls itself an AI search growth engine, with the line “Win customers from AI search.” Every paid plan bundles its AI Article Writer with AI-visibility tracking and site audits. It's a tool for a content team measuring how a brand shows up in AI search, not for a student with a deadline.
The plan limits make the audience plain. Starter includes 15 AI articles, 50 tracked prompts, 10 site audits and one user. Basic, at $199 a month billed annually, raises that to 25 articles, 100 tracked prompts and two users. Nothing in those tiers is sized for one person writing one essay.
Where sources fit in
Trinka doesn't supply sources. It works on yours: the Citation Checker validates the references you already have against Crossref and flags retracted, hallucinated and predatory ones, and the Citation Formatter tidies them. If an AI tool wrote any of your references, that check is worth a credit.
Writesonic's article writer says “Every claim backed by a first-party source before publish”. Those sources are web pages chosen for marketing articles, not scholarly papers, and the page lists no academic citation styles. It doesn't cite from your own library or a scholarly database, and its citations couldn't be checked without an account.
How much each one writes for you
Writesonic writes whole articles end to end, described as “The Agentic Content Pipeline”, at “3,000 to 8,000 words” each after analysing search results and competitor pages. Starter covers 15 of them a month.
Trinka mostly corrects and paraphrases your text. It also has “Write & Rewrite with AI”, capped by monthly requests: 5 on the free plan, 25 on Premium and 1,000 on Premium Plus. That's help with passages, on the edge of an editor.
Feedback on what you wrote
Trinka's feedback is the kind a careful proofreader gives. Its Trustpilot reviewers say it lifted the grammar and academic tone of their manuscripts and theses. It has gaps: Originality.ai, which sells its own grammar checker, found it missed misspellings such as “bussiness” and “atract” and some grammar mistakes.
Writesonic doesn't describe reviewing a student's draft. Reviewers praise its speed, but a marketing agency's review calls its output uneven without detailed prompts, and one SoftwareReviews user says it “isn't very good at writing academic essays/articles” and asks for a citation generator for “facts validation”.
Free plan, free trial and billing
Trinka's free Basic plan never expires. It gives you 5,000 words of writing help, 5 AI writing requests and 4 credits a month, with grammar in lite mode, and its users complain about those limits more than anything else. Writesonic lists no free plan; you get a 7-day free trial with no credit card.
You can't compare them month to month: Trinka Premium is $20 billed monthly, but Writesonic's pricing page shows no monthly-billed prices. Writesonic's plans climb to $399 a month for Growth. Its Trustpilot reviewers describe charges after cancelling and refused refunds, especially on annual plans, so read the cancellation terms before you pay for anything.
Which should you choose?
Choose Trinka if you're a student or researcher polishing your own paper and want academic grammar, style-guide corrections and a check on your references. Start on the free Basic plan, and Premium is $48 a year after that.
Choose Writesonic if you run content for a brand and need SEO articles produced at volume alongside AI-visibility tracking. Take the 7-day trial first, and keep it away from coursework.
If Trinka's proofreading comes too late in the process for you, EthiWrite, our own tool, works earlier: Examiner Mode maps your argument and flags thin evidence and structural gaps while you're still drafting. It searches papers in a single index, OpenAlex, rather than a commercial database.
